Linlithgow
scotlandWhen considering places to move in Scotland, Linlithgow quickly stood out. It’s in between Glasgow and Edinburgh, on the rail line. Close to the airport, extremely walkable, great community spirit and rather active in terms of activities we value.
We scouted the burgh out in November, 2025 and walked most of it to see where we might aim our house-hunting. Realistically, the entire town is very walkable with good supermarkets at either end of the main street and lots of interesting places to walk through and to. The train station is convenient to get to and we could get from Linlithgow into Edinburgh in ~20 minutes…very handy.
It also is on a canal…which is important if I am to own a narrowboat eventually. Whether or not that happens anytime soon, the canal path itself is also a lovely walk and a handy artery.
